Ok, some of you will think I am stealing a line from Ted Dziuba, but I don’t care.
Fuck Me.
We all must be real idiots over here in our little corners reading TechMeme, Hacker News, and such, looking for pearls of wisdom on how to do our business just a little bit better. How silly when all we really need to be doing is studying Jeff Paul's techniques. According to Jeff, if you spend $39.95 with him, all of the challenges of Internet entrepreneurship will melt away. Here are the highlights of Jeff’s system:
- Sign up today and be in business tomorrow
- Easy as sending email
- 10 Free web businesses
- No computer skills necessary
Ain’t that great! No computer skills necessary!
The amazing thing to me is that this guy is obviously making enough money to pay for a national TV campaign. Perhaps I shouldn’t be, but it really is viscerally shocking to me that there are enough people dumb enough to believe that you can really give some guy $39.95 and start making hundreds of thousands of dollars with no skills.
In many respects the Internet is indeed the great equalizer. It gives us all access to the same incredible pools of information. But what this kind of cynical campaign and product shows is that there are still plenty of people who really know nothing about even the basics of what the Internet is about. And among them there is a gullible group ripe for exploitation, that is responsive to this kind of insanity. Indeed Jeff Paul is capitalizing on the oft-quoted P.T. Barnum phrase that there is a sucker born every minute.
I know it is naïve but it is still disturbing to me.

Well, I don't think he's telling people how to start a new Twitter or Yelp or anything for $39.95, and I doubt you want to be selling Beanie Babies on eBay either. I don't see any reason why you couldn't make a healthy living playing product arbitrage on eBay, but is that really what you want to do?
I don't.
Jason,
Call me pessimistic, but I suspect its quite hard work making a lot of money selling beanie babies on ebay and most of the people doing it dont make millions. But even then, I dont think that is what he is telling people how to do.
Its interesting that this blog post is a bit the same as the ad.
From an RSS reader point of view, one sees the title "Shortcut To Internet Millions!" ...and you get this inkling that its kinda gonna be a bit of a blog-bait post that's not really going to contain anything significantly interesting... so you think ... nah, blog-bait, I'm not falling for it. Then you think, bah ... I'll have a look, you read the blog post, and just as you expected, its not really saying anything.
Kinda wonder how I fell for it... a bit like how people must feel when they pay the $39
blog,
Irony. Look it up.
Then again, if that is your perspective, perhaps you would be safer removing me from your RSS. I certainly wouldnt want to feel responsible for "baiting" you. I think it might work out best for both of us.
"there are enough people dumb enough to believe"
That the base of spam. And there's spam because there's a tiny % of people dumb/desperate enough to believe.
I'd say it's like religion, people love to believe.
Juan
I remember at the height of the dotcom boom in 2000 (I was with Vignette at the time), Guthy-Renker (of infomercial fame ala Tony Robbins) was running sold-out seminars on "Getting on the World Wide Web" for something like $149. People were signing up in droves.
It's the gold rush mentality in that case, but even now it's all of us seeking the next big thing, the competitive advantage, the best practice or the "taking of something that worked in one industry and applying it in mine".
In my practice, 'some' clients are looking for "silver bullets" or "magic pixie dust" to come forth from my engagements with them and expect that if they just know all the right tricks and tactics for using social media and the 'net, they'll soar to new heights in growth.
What Jeff Paul is offering is magic pixie dust and this kind of crap pisses me off too. Not because of the gullible people out there that buy his stuff, but rather that wherever there are seekers, there are snake oil salesmen ready to fulfill their search with hollow offerings.
The good thing is guys like you calling 'bullshit' on them.
If you ask me thats the kind of business I want to get into the business of making people rich ..
Me .. I dont want to be rich I just want to make you rich ..
Oh ! Did I forget to mention that there is not lubricant with the program ..
hahahhahahahaha i love this post great gripe post what about the guy who says he can optimize your website for only $499.99 or your web hosting company that guarantees your placement in Google for only $24.95 when you could produce the same result by using ur Meta Tags properly and just being patient for 2 wks??
I dont just see it as being a sucker is born but there is a real deeper issue as with the Dummies book series vs. Computers Simplified. When i taught adults in community centers around NYC i would show them why the DUMMIES books rarely worked vs Computer Simplified series - Dummies (Computer Technology Series, Software, etc) were in Black and White 3 - 4 paragraphs on a page vs Computer Simplified in full color with graphics and screenshots in full color and a cartoon character and the Computer Simplified books were 10" x 14" bigger and easier to read. But most people didnt see the real problem THE TITLE if you agree you are DUMB as opposed to being ill-informed then you have low expectations of yourself and when you feel like you arent going to learn anything well you probably should not anyway cause you are a DUMMY. Its the same thing with any of these make millions schemes they are based on the premise you are broke and you are a DUMMY but they can show even YOU how to do but if you dont make it well its because you were a Dummy anyway. Hard Work and steady consistency yield positive cash results...we as a nation have become a place that cherishes the amazing OVERNIGHTER but most who do become OVERNIGHT success will tell you of the last 10 failures or hard work, late nights, nail biting, partner who tried to steal, and stressful process.
Interesting to hear about such an ad (Jeff Paul's), but not really that surprising. The same kind of ads (get rich quick and easily, with low/no investment, etc.) can be seen by the ton in classified ads sections of any newspaper in the world. And I bet a lot of people respond to them, sending in the payment, etc.
And on Barnum, there's another good one: Once, on a public holiday, there was a huge crowd at his circus - and the people already inside were not leaving. After a lot of attempts by his staff to get people to leave so others could enter (there was a big queue outside), he put up a big sign on one wall, above a door. The sign said:
TO THE EGRESS
And soon, people started pouring through the door, thinking EGRESS was some kind of rare animal (like tigress, for example). Of course, in reality, it took them out of the circus ground - egress means exit :-)
L Martin Johnson Pratt: Meta tags? Seriously? Come on man, it's 2008. Try getting to the front page of google with meta tags and see what happens...
Sam my man its also a basic princple to CHOOSE a website name that is unique and different there are many different methods of being on the front page of google but that wasnt the point LOL the point was to be informed on the basic princples of whatever it is you wish to do so YOU dont have to spend $39.95 for something that you can easily do yourself
LOL the link to Jeff Paul's product does not work any more.
I'm in the wrong business. What's this interwebs thing?
if it is a scam why do u get your money back after 60 days and still keep the 10 websites
I've read most of the comments and I have seen the infomercial but I have not purchased the product.
The question I have is have any of you seen the product or are you just over reacting.
If you have not purchased the product or at least seen the product I would think it about the same as Doctor Spock (with no children) writing books on how to raise them.
It's true, you don't have to touch a flame to know you will be burned if you do ( and you are properly instructed in your youth) but to assume you know all about a business plan without reviewing the actual plan is ludicrous.
I would like to hear a review from someone that actually used the plan before I form an opinion
@Anonymous...You get to keep the 10 websites because they are crappy cookie cutter websites that are useless because they don't have unique content on them. Plus you need the system in order to make them work.
As for getting your money back...good luck with that. You can read some of the comments on this article about people who bought Jeff Pauls crap and asked for a refund. Some of the customer service people are rude and they just give the customers the run around and all that.
I won't do business with people like that.
I have tried almost every single get rich quick program out there including Jeff Paul's and realized one thing...THEY DONT WORK! Instead I actually decided to attend college and I feel relieved and less stressed now.
I wanted to check into it and be smart about it.We'll I sent an e-mail asking some questions and the e-mail came back to me.I am keeping my 39.95.I am also going to college and pursuing a modeling career.
SCAM, SCAM, SCAM,!!!!! DO NOT EVER!!!! EVER!!! EVER!!!!!!!! DO ANYTHING ONLINE THAT HAS TO DO WITH MAKING TONS OF MONEY FAST!!! ESPECIALLY!!!! WHEN YOU HAVE TO PAY TO GET STARTED!!! IT DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!!! DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!! IT IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your announce has on internet marketing is definitely sincere. Internet marketing has opened new
ways of attracting visitors to the website generous the webmasters a way of earning cash as well as web rank. Let's see what the likely holds for internet marketing.
I have to agree with what mike said...i too am a skeptic of this product and would like further details into it...i mean it really sounds too good to be true...i mean i am gonna be going to design school in los angeles,ca here in october and i know it's going to be expensive plus i have 5 grand worth of debt i need to get rid of...so i thought hey what about this system...but i don't wanna get sucked in and then get screwed over yet again like i have been in the past with other so called products...my question is this; "how can u tell if something is a scam if u never really have tried it?!??!"
I try to look at the glass as half full rather than half empty. If u have a goal in life, i guess a nominal fee that u would probably blow on a weekend out at a bar or a restaurant with friends merits being spent to pursue a dream. It's that kind of thinking that polarizes a person from being optimistic and having the resolve to pursue an endeavor.
This down economy has had an impact on almost everyone. But there is still money to be made and a lot of companies are taking advantage of the current market conditions. The Debt settlement industry is booming and now is the time to get in. This is not a get rich quick scheme and it is not a shortcut. Instead it is a legitimate way of making money, but it requires work in order to be successful. If you want to know where to start then visit http://www.pacificsettlementservices.com
"how can u tell if something is a scam if u never really have tried it?!??!"?
Here's how: You can smell it. A mile away. Come on now, really - can't you see these things coming by now? If you're really not sure, do a search online. Go ahead, I'll wait...do a search on "shortcuts to inernet millions"...okay - what's the first thing you see? Link after link about what a rip-off artist this guy is. There's your first clue. Next - Anyone who does an informercial, and the entire theme is, "ANYONE, NO MATTER HOW STUPID, CAN MAKE A LOT OF MONEY REALLY QUICKLY WITHOUT HARDLY TRYING." There's a big clue for you there.
It's definitely a scam. All get rich quick schemes are a scam and I'm tired of seeing people lose money like I did. You don't need to spend any money to make money. Read my article.

U got that cookie cutter crap from camp rock didn't u
This is one big scam! I can't believe the lies that Jeff Paul is selling!
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT!!!
Thanks for all of the input. Just saw the infomercial and almost got sucked in, then starting googling and saw all of the negative comments. No way, screw him for taking advantage of people that need to make some money to feed their families. He needs a public beating.
I did a review on it. See why I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Jeff Paul is a dumbo who just takes advantage of people ........screw him,,,,,,,,,,

I wonder? lol
as u all are saying it dos not work im still makeing forty five thousand a month it works fine for me
Everyone has some gullibility, I mean, take his two big boob front women for example, I would eat the corn out of their crap just to see where it came from. Isn't that the same thing as spending $39.95 for some shit from Jeff Paul? Hmmm, If I could only pay them the forty bucks and save my toothbrush....
Maybe because I'm a video producer and have unwantingly worked on a couple infomercials. Can you not tell they are all actors? Of course, it's bullshit.
I use Jeff's product and am currently making close to 5000 a week. It's great. You gotta want it though, and it will happen. You guys are just looking at the bad reviews, try looking at the good ones. It really really works!! I suggest you buy the program, then sit back and wait for the money to come rollin' in. While you wait, call me and I'll sell you a nice piece of oceanfront property here in Arizona!! Suckers.............
i have lot of iranian friends in salt lake city ,utah, i cant espeak english as well,i love it...i can telling and commershal ibewtween iranian in u.s.a,,,......plz tell me about it more,,i can do it as well if i know
I have the new get rick quick scam... Save up the money to pay for an infomercial, sell a bunch of sheep some boogus information (that you could probably find online for free if you looked) for 4 easy payments of $29.99, and watch the cash roll in.
I hear you man.....
If the system works so well for all of those people claiming to be making 10's or 100's of thousands a year surely you won't be opposed to posting a copy of your 1040's and feel free to redact any of the personal info.
all these comments seem fake don't they?
Why dosent somebody actually buy it and then see for yourself for your information ou can get your money back and yes it does work the problem is people get greedy before they even start pick take your time pick your sitesd well and you will make money maybe not over night but in time you will make a decent living off of the internet
This world is amazing to me.By the grace of God we are all here.Money wont buy your way to heaven. The road to destruction is broad for those who love money.Give your riches to your lord.In return you will get the greatest blessing.God Bless anyone who reads this and agrees.
If you want to gripe about that bogus program that's totally fine, but you should NOT have his link posted on this blog! How much is he paying you per click?
well I'd like to try something to make more money and jeff paul say's money back guarrateed, I would like to see for myself if it works. these kinda of things don't make money overnite but in time maybe. have you even tried his product Hank Williams?
I know people who have done this and have made thousands in a week. You have to want to do it and it takes time to get it right. Then you prosper.
If you can duplicate what is being done, you can make money.
Wait! a min you guys have some close minds. Im a single parent raising 6 kids and its not easy living in a house and trying to survive on uneployment. When I saw Jeff paul shortcut to millions I said to my self that would be great! but to come up with 39.95 to start with and no credit card, I will have to wait. Its been 6 months and Im finally going to do it. Why you ask! shit why not its free money to me this month. My bills are paid and rent. All my household is covered. Even if it take more money in time Im willing to do it. I only live once what do I got to loose and when I do get paid and even if I don't get paid thats ok. You can't be so close minded all the time thats what make people feel and do what they do. Shit! take the challenge! maybe ill have my own house and some extra's. Its called hope. You your self should try it.
Im from Calli and if you live here you know that we have a governor that is taking everything away from us, So why not take the shortcut to millions with jeff paul you mite like it what are you afraid of .You tried everything else, right well I haven't. So me and my kids are sattling up and ready to ride the challenge. What do we got to loose nothing no matter if it don't work I get my money back.
I tried jeff's system and now I'm making 80 million dollars a day! Wait Wait, I just checked my bank account and it seems that every man, woman and child on the face of this planet is now sending me 100 dollars a day! Holy shit this shit works!
People who have purchased Jeff Paul (myself included) find numerous unauthorized charges on their credit card and are forced to succumb to "upselling" from a third party that Jeff Paul sells your info to (called Mentoring of America). Waste of time!
Also, the FTC recently charged a case against Jeff Paul for deceptive business practices. I can't copy/paste here, but you can visit the FTC site.
FTC lost the case... No fake justice happening, Have a nice life :)
