Pressing Reset

I am back.

Well sort of.  I am probably not going to be as prolific as I have been, but I do expect to speak with at least equivalent force.  I took a pause because, aside from needing to clear out space for more thinking about Kloudshare related stuff, I realized, after the scope of the economic meltdown became clear,  that I needed a fresh perspective.

Those of you who read this blog know that last year I wrote fairly extensively about what I thought was wrong with the tech economy and the economy at large. And now the worst has happened, making warnings irrelevant and general admonitions much less interesting. And so I needed a new even more specifically prescriptive perspective, a new message that points the way to a better future. In the coming days I hope to lay out some of those thoughts.

  2. A part of me really wants this recession to be deep and hard to knock some sense into people and some sense into these "everything is free" business models. The rest of me is just scared because I fear it will be just like that and even my own illusions will be torn away.

  5. I for one am rooting for you to become active again. I just discovered your blog a month or two before you took a break.

If you are looking for fresh perspectives, perhaps it would be worth your time to read up on Joseph Schumpeter's ideas about "creative destruction."

Regardless of whether it is due to a recession or intense competition, if its your own cherished ideas, or your own business plan that is being destroyed, it can be hard to see the big picture benefits of the destructive process.

  11. Hmm...after December you didn't write for 2 months...then after February you haven't written for 1 month.

Now I understand the title of this blog. Looks like the blog itself has joined the fray of everything that sucks.

Goodbye is about the only thing I can say here. What a waste of time.
